Dr. Andrew Goldenberg founded the field of Robotics at University of Toronto in 1982 where he was Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, cross appointed in the Institute of Biomaterials & Biomedical Engineering, and cross appointed in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is currently Professor Emeritus at the University of Toronto, Adjunct Professor at Ryerson University, a Guest Professor at Nanjing University of Science and Technology, and a Guest Professor at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Science, Tianjin, P. R. China. Andrew is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario, a Life Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc., and has fellowships with the: American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Engineering Institute of Canada, Canadian Academy of Engineering, American Association for the Advancement of Science. Andrew founded Engineering Service Inc. (ESI) in 1982. ESI was a developer of robotics-based automation technology located in Toronto. ESI was acquired in 2015 and subsequently listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2016.
